Can an car insurance company deny coverage if the driver doesn’t wear seat belts?

Say if you let your friend drive your car and he get’s in an accident. Can you car insurance company say that the insurance coverage didn’t count because your friend didn’t have seat belts on? Thx.

They may not cover his injuries.
Ask ahead of time to make sure your car is covered.
